Russia @ North Pole: Ice Station Zebra!

Hello,

Did we not have a movie, many years ago about the battle over the North Pole? It was a great movie. I think Rock Hudson(American) and Ernest Borgnine(Russian) was in it. Ice Station Zebra!

Well now in real life, we have the USA and Russia, wanting the North Pole

Russia is trying to lay claim to the North Pole in the Arctic, This area is thought to contain oil, gas and mineral reserves. Their claim is being challenged by other powers, including the US.

See below a detailed map of the region

Moscow has argued before, in 2001 that waters off its northern coast were in fact an extension of its maritime territory.

The claim was based on the underwater feature, known as the Lomonosov Ridge, is part of its continental territory.

The UN has not given any comment on this acclaim.

The Russians are sending a mini sub very soon to check out their claims. The team aboard the mini-submarine Mir is expected to carry out scientific experiments and measurements on the sea bed. When the mini sub leaves it will plant a Russian flag and a capsule with a message for future generations.

Russia wants to extended the zone, to do this, a state has to prove that the structure of the continental shelf is similar to the geological structure within its territory.

At the moment, no body’s shelf extends up to the North Pole, so there is an international area around the Pole administered by the International Seabed Authority.

In a nut shell: There is a huge oil reserve under the North Pole. The same one that the Alaskan oil reserves are near. So this is going to become a heated issue as time goes by.

Putin, Lays the Law down!

Hello,

Putin lambasts Britain for “colonial mindset”

London has given Putin some advice: Change the Russian Constitution!

Vladimir Putin has dismissed the recommendation to amend the Constitution. :))))

London has just added more fuel to the fire, over the Russian-UK diplomatic disagreement, over the extradition of former KGB agent Andrei Lugovoi.

Putin stated: “What they offer is obviously the remnant of a colonial mindset,” Told to Russia’s Channel 1 on Tuesday.

Why is Britain intent on stoking the flames?

There are 30 people sought by Russian law enforcement agencies that live in Britain, for crimes of various degrees of severity. Most reside in London, but Britain would not extradite them. The United States and France have unextradited criminals in Britain also.

I have already written about this in the link above.

Now Britain has decided to play some more, when will they learn that Russia likes to play also?

Russia @ United Kingdom!

Hello,

Sometimes, I get a little political. When I hear enough about a certain subject, I write about it. This particular subject did not interest me until, The USA and France opened their big mouths and backed Britain. I get both sides of the story, living here in Moscow! So Here is what I think:

The Russian @ British political standoff could lead to the withdrawal of many Russian companies from the London and American Stock exchange.

If things remain as they are, the UK markets, could suffer by Russians switching to continental stock exchanges. The American stock exchange would suffer also.

It is said that Britain could extend visa restrictions for Russian officials to the executives of state-owned companies. It could become impossible to get a Business Visa to the UK.

British companies that operating in Russia may face problems also: They could be subject to more frequent inspections, also it could be more difficult for UK companies to win tenders. In the end, British businesses could sustain significant damages. Russia business is the “Loan wolf”, as we say, they have much less to lose because they are very unreeling in the outside world.

The situation can only be stabilized if London refrains from retaliation, or this could lead to a political stalemate, if not trigger another Cold War,

The chain of events:

1.On 28 May 2007, the UK requested Lugovoi’s extradition in connection with the Litvinenko killing, but Moscow refused to extradite him saying Russia’s Constitution did not allow the extradition of its citizens. (At The Same Time) Meanwhile, the UK itself has declined Russia’s extradition requests for Chechen rebel spokesman Akhmed Zakayev and businessman Boris Berezovsky, facing fraud charges in Russia and openly calling for force to replace Putin’s administration.

2. On 16 July Britain expelled four Russian diplomats over Moscow’s refusal to extradite businessman Andrei Lugovoi. Britain also suspended visa facilitation negotiations with Moscow. Russia responded in kind, expelling four British embassy staff and imposing other restrictions.

So to me, It sounds like Britain played games first, But Russia likes to play also! If Britain would give up their political refugees then I bet Russia would give up their refugee. Now for France and the USA!!! They need to keep their mouths shut! Get all information before you,” Spout Like a Boiling Tea Pot!”

Just a thought!!!

We eat every meal that we can off of that home made picnic table and the sunset is always one to stand in total aw of.

Hope you enjoy more Village photos.

RUSSIAN RAINBOW: Wow!

Hello,

The technical definition for a rainbow is:
“Rainbows are optical and meteorological phenomena that cause a spectrum of light to appear in the sky when the Sun shines onto droplets of moisture in the Earth’s atmosphere. They take the form of a multicoloured arc, with red on the outer part of the arch and violet on the inner section of the arch. More rarely, a double rainbow is seen, which includes a second, fainter arc with colors in the opposite order, that is, with violet on the outside and red on the inside.” (Wikipedia)

What ever the definitions is, they are beautiful. The rainbows that I just took pictures of, came after a long dreary day of clouds and rain. I think that rainbows would be considered beautiful anyway, but when they appear after such a dreary day, they are even more beautiful. This is even the rare double rainbow.(I feel special)

My definition is that God still remembers his promise about never flooding the world again. God said he would keep the rainbow as a reminder! Everywhere in the world rainbows shine. Well today in Moscow Russia, God gave us a double reminder. :))))))

What Is A Flat?

Hello,

I was drinking my daily cup of coffee! Um mm Um mm good! I thought to my self. Do you want to see how most Moscow people live?

So I found these pictures of My Sweetie and her place to live in 2004 and pictures of where we live now. This is very typical living for a Russian. Not fancy or extravagant.
List of Pictures:

  • 1st. Our Kitchen Now
  • Our bathroom
  • Our living Room
  • Kitchen 2004
  • 2004 Living Room
  • Living Room now
  • 2004
  • 2004 Kitchen
  • 2004
  • My Sweetie!

I live the same as any Russian and I find it very comfortable. I do not live like I did in the USA! In America, I lived in a large home, with a little dog, The house had two bedrooms, gigantic kitchen, full basement, back porch, front porch, living room, dinning room, family room, etc, etc, etc.

I can honestly say that I am happier now!!!!

PATHS: The Russian Tradition!

Today I woke up and felt a little better than normal. I was grumpy, (just ask my Sweetie), but I felt physically better. So I walked my Sweetie, to the bus stop and saw her off. I then walked through the woods back home…

I came across paths, every where there was paths. There was paths crossing paths. There was narrow paths. There was wide paths. There was paths for cars. There was asphalt paths. there was rocky paths. there was dirt paths. There was paths going nowhere. There was paths going to the flats. There was paths going to the freeway crosswalk. There was little paths going to bigger paths. sometimes there was two or three parallel paths going to the same place…

These paths that I took pictures of, were not in a large area. They were within 200 to 300 meters of where I live. Anywhere you walk in Russia you will find paths…

In Russia, if there is not a path going to where you want to go. Make your own path! It is OK!

A path is definitely a “Russian Tradition!”
