We are witnessing a dramatic deterioration of the situation in southeastern Ukraine, in Donetsk People’s Republic and Lugansk People’s Republic. In this connection I would like to inform you again that a week ago, on Thursday, I sent a letter to the President of Ukraine, a written proposal to withdraw heavy weapons – artillery and multiple rocket launchers – to such a distance from which it would be impossible to fire at populated areas.
I would like to inform you further that this proposal almost completely coincided with the requirements of the official Kiev. You know that there may be one disputed area along the line of separation between the parties to the conflict. So we suggested that weapons and heavy equipment should be withdrawn to the line that Kiev authorities themselves consider fair and corresponding to the agreements reached in Minsk on September 19, 2014.
Unfortunately, we received no clear answer to our proposal; in fact, we also saw the reverse action, namely the Kiev government has given an official order to launch large-scale combat operations along almost the entire perimeter of contact between the opposing sides.
The result: dozens of dead and wounded, and not only among servicemen on both sides, but, even more tragically, there has been loss of life among the civilian population, including children, the elderly and women. The artillery, multiple rocket launchers and aircraft are firing indiscriminately, directly at densely populated areas.
All of this is happening to the accompaniment of propaganda slogans about the quest for peace and the search for those responsible. The responsibility is borne by those who issue such criminal orders. The people who do this should know that there is no other way to solve such conflicts but through peace negotiations and political means. We often hear, including from today’s official Kiev, that this is their preferred method of addressing issues, but the reality is quite different. I hope that common sense will eventually triumph.
I would like to call for a moment of silence to honor the victims, including those who died at a bus stop in Donetsk.

This deal signed at the same time that China and Russia signed the oil gas deal worth 400 + billion dollars. I am doing this because I see a western world that says the world I live in, is in collapse. The world that I live in (is Russia) and it is not in ruins. Time does fly and this past weekend, Sveta went to the village again to finish the paper work on the village home. The laws changed several years ago and she had to get all the paper work up to date, to keep from having ownership issues at a future date…
While I was slightly (Okay a bunch,) jealous of her going and I had to stay home with Boza. I have used the time to decipher what I am going to plant this year, at the village. It will be items that easily store for the winter in our Moscow home…
Vegetables like beets and turnips for long storage. Then items like radishes and grasses (parsley and such,) for short-term immediate use. Potatoes are to hard on me, as I am a diabetic, but beets and turnips do not bother me and besides, Sveta loves them also…
Therefore, beets and turnips it is and maybe just beets. For Russians have no greater desire for anything but borsch to eat at every meal it seems. I am finding myself starting to feel the same way, as I checked the bin for red beets today, to make a beet soup tonight…
Maybe just sugar beets and red beets, they are very easy to grow and between the two, you can have lots of cooking fun. This is what I am deciding as time flies, as I am getting anxious to get to the village and spend half a year there…

This time we also are going to buy another or two dehydrators for fruit. I think three dehydrators going full-time this summer, will give enough dried apples, cherries, currant and raspberries to last the winter. Last year, we gave them all away and what we had left, we ate in a few weeks…
In our village, apples are abundant and I am going to store them for the long winters in Russia…
