After lots of thinking and even pulling from my past experiences, albeit a very long time ago, Sammy the Volga will have her rear end welded and make her a real two wheel drive girl. This is going in with conjunction of having to install a  pinion bearing…

If you understood the roads that Sammy spends 90% of her time on? You would see why we are doing this. This last month has been interesting with only a standard drive train. The rain has been horrendous and getting in and out has been more than interesting at times. Crawling through mud has new meaning in the goat trail roads we live with…

So, money donated many years ago is going to have the rear end welded and allow Sammy to get around better in serious issue times. Which actually is 90% of the time that we drive her…

I have seen plenty and studied plenty of info and the Volga will have the same ability that a standard 4X4 like a LADA Niva that actually only has two when drive, just one on each axle, due to the same issue of a standard differential…

I use to drag race a whole bunch as a youngster and it does work. It changes the way you drive at times, but it does work damn good. If you have priced an LSD diff? Cost is a huge factor…

Thus, I will be without a car for a week or so and then we can go real 2X2 wheeling…

Russian Defence Ministry report on the progress of the special military operation (6 August 2023)

Last night the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation launched a group strike with long-range air- and sea-based precision weapons against AFU air bases close to Starokonstantinov (Khmelnitsky region) and Dubno (Rovno region).

The goal of the attack has been reached. All the assigned targets have been neutralised.

The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continued the special military operation, defeating and repelling enemy offensive attempts in Donetsk, Kupyansk, Krasny Liman, South Donetsk and Zaporozhye directions.

In Kupyansk direction, assault detachments of the Zapad Group of Forces continued to improve the tactical situation in the area of responsibility.

Eight attacks and counterattacks by AFU units have been successfully repelled near Sinkovka and Olshana (Kharkov region) and Novosyolovskoye (Lugansk People’s Republic).

As a result of actions by Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, as well as artillery, enemy manpower and hardware concentration areas have been hit near Novomlynsk, Sinkovka, Timkovka, Tabaevka (Kharkov region) and Artyomovka (Lugansk People’s Republic).

The enemy losses were up to 50 Ukrainian servicemen, three armoured fighting vehicles, three motor vehicles, two U.S.-manufactured M109 Paladin self-propelled howitzers, one Polish-manufactured Krab self-propelled artillery system, and two Msta-B howitzers.

In Donetsk direction, as a result of actions by units of the Yug Group of Forces, Operational-Tactical Aviation, artillery, and heavy flamethrower systems, five enemy attacks have been repelled close to Kleshcheevka, Pervomayskoye, Nevelskoye, and Maryinka (Donetsk People’s Republic).

In addition, AFU manpower and hardware concentration areas have been hit near Avdeevka, Kleshcheevka, Staromikhailovka, Maryinka, and Krasnogorovka (Donetsk People’s Republic).

The enemy losses were up to 170 Ukrainian servicemen, three armoured fighting vehicles, five motor vehicles, and one Polish-manufactured Krab self-propelled howitzer.

In Krasny Liman direction, as a result of coordinated actions by units of the Tsentr Group of Forces, Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, as well as artillery, two attacks by AFU assault groups have been successfully repelled south-west of Kovalyovka (Lugansk People’s Republic) and close to Serebryansky forestry.

In addition, manpower and hardware concentration areas have been hit near Torskoye, Yampol (Donetsk People’s Republic), Petrovskoye, and Chervonaya Dibrova (Lugansk People’s Republic).

The enemy losses were up to 110 Ukrainian servicemen, two armoured fighting vehicles, three motor vehicles, one U.S.-manufactured M777 artillery system and one Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer.

In South Donetsk direction, as a result of actions by aviation and artillery, as well as units of the Vostok Group of Forces, an enemy attack by an assault group has been repelled close to Urozhainoye (Donetsk People’s Republic).

In addition, AFU manpower and hardware have been hit near Staromayorskoye and Storozhevoye (Donetsk People’s Republic), and Levadnoye (Zaporozhye region).

The enemy losses were up to 150 Ukrainian servicemen, two armoured fighting vehicles, four motor vehicles, one Grad MLRS combat vehicle, and one U.S.-manufactured M777 artillery system.

In Zaporozhye direction, as a result of by the actions of units, aviation and artillery of the Russian grouping of forces, two enemy attacks have been repelled near Rabotino (Zaporozhye region).

In addition, AFU units have been hit near Novopokrovka, Rabotino and Novoandreevka (Zaporozhye region).

The enemy losses were up to 80 Ukrainian servicemen, three armoured fighting vehicles, four motor vehicles, and one D-30 howitzer.

In Kherson direction, the enemy losses were up to 40 Ukrainian servicemen, as well as eight motor vehicles.

Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have neutralised 136 artillery units at their firing positions, manpower and military hardware in 145 areas.

One munition depot of missile and artillery weapons of the 9th Army Corps of the AFU has been destroyed close to Zaporozhye.

In addition, hangars with AFU aircraft equipment have been hit at Zaporozhye airfield.

One command post of the 79th Airborne Assault Brigade of the AFU has been neutralised near Paraskovievka (Donetsk People’s Republic).

Air defence facilities have intercepted 11 HIMARS multiple-launch rocket system projectiles and one HARM anti-radar missile.

In addition, 16 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles have been shot down close to Belogorovka, Ploshchanka, Rubezhnoye, Novovodyanoye (Lugansk People’s Republic), Krasnaya Gora, Lidievka (Donetsk People’s Republic), Ternovoye, Mirnoye (Zaporozhye region) and Novaya Kakhovka (Kherson region).

In total, 458 airplanes, 245 helicopters, 5,534 unmanned aerial vehicles, 428 air defence missile systems, 11,143 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, 1,143 fighting vehicles equipped with MLRS, 5,778 field artillery cannons and mortars, as well as 12,098 special military motor vehicles have been destroyed during the special military operation.
