PRIME MINISTER OF INDIA MANMOHAN SINGH: Your Excellency, Mr Dmitry Medvedev, President of the Russian Federation,

Distinguished representatives of the media,

I am delighted to welcome His Excellency President Medvedev to India for the 11th India-Russia annual summit.

Our summit this year marks the completion of ten years of the India-Russia strategic partnership. This is also the third annual summit meeting that I have held with President Medvedev. We deeply value the role that President Medvedev has played in taking forward our relationship.

The tradition of annual summits with Russia symbolises the richness of our relationship with Russia. Russia is a time-tested friend of India that has stood by us in our times of need in the past.

Ours is a very special and privileged strategic partnership. It is a partnership that has and will continue to develop independently of our relations with other countries.

Our talks have been comprehensive and result-oriented. We have signed several important agreements covering a large number of sectors. This reflects our mutual desire to bring our cooperation in other areas at par with our traditionally strong cooperation in the field of defense and nuclear energy.

Russia Praised North Korea for Restraint…


Russia has praised North Korea for demonstrating absolute restraint in the face of the provocation by Seoul. But…

On Monday, South Korean artillery shells were exploding on the   Island of Enlhendo in the Yellow Sea, 10 kilometers from North Korea, for almost two hours. Walls in the bunkers  shook, while South Korean war- planes flew overhead. It was a flexing of military muscles, which information from Seoul says will become a monthly ritual. If this is true and it is being put out over the Eastern news, as I write this. That means that South Korea and America are really looking for a new war…

Because believe me America will be war gaming right along with the South Korea and we have at least 25,000 men stationed in South Korea…

Makes no sense to keep up the provocation on a monthly basis…

North Korea Responds To South Korea’s Provocation…


What was said by the North Korea’s supreme military command in response to South Korea’s provocation with Monday’s drills.

The revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK did not feel any need to retaliate against every despicable military provocation, like one taking revenge after facing a blow. […] This was nothing but a childish play with fire. […] The world should properly know who is the true champion of peace and who is the real provocateur of a war.

Interesting tidbit of information…

Could they be correct about provocation from certain other countries? Or does it matter that military drills on their borders by America and South Korea are going on? How would America feel if Russia and Canada did live fire exercises on the Canadian border? Mexican border? What about live fire off the demarcation line on the East or West coast of America. What about?

Oh! I forgot, we will just kick your butt if you try to do that stuff to America…

Important: Looks Like Bill Richards Was Successful in the Defusing of the Korea’s…


One man went to North Korea and settled the dust before a war has broke out. The World is exclaiming the North is scared of the US and the South so no retaliation was wrought… (Hummm….)

I suggest a different thought: Bill Richardson, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations gave us a Christmas present and we have peace for the holidays…

North Korea has agreed to a series of actions, including the return of U.N. inspectors, following discussions with Bill Richardson, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, CNN’s Wolf Blitzer said Monday. The North agreed to allow International Atomic Energy Agency personnel to return to a nuclear facility in the country and agreed to negotiate the sale of 12,000 fresh fuel rods and ship them to an outside country, presumably to South Korea, said Blitzer, who is traveling with Richardson.

Looks like Bill on his unsanctioned trip to the North was a thousand times more productive than an Aircraft carrier off of North Korea’s coast would ever be. Bill Richards also asked the North not to retaliate for shelling by the South and they did not retaliate. Even though the South was asked repeatedly please do not play war games with America…

The US is Really Helping the Situation in Korea…


On the surface this looks like a good thing: An unofficial visit to the North Korea by the US Governor of New Mexico Bill Richardson. He is going to try to help defuse the situation…

Now that is all fine and dandy but what about this news:

South Korea has said it will proceed with joint naval drills with the U.S. near the North Korean border despite warning from the international community. Defense officials in Seoul have said that the exercises may be launched on Monday or Tuesday if the weather improves. North Korea is threatening to retaliate if the South goes ahead with planned exercises. The UN Security Council is holding an emergency meeting at Russia’s request to discuss the situation on the Korean peninsula.

This seems to be a case of the stupids going on. Makes you wonder, does the right hand know what the left hand is doing? Russia has been working overtime to try to get this under control and all I see is South Korea and the USA doing war games every week. Near the North Korean borders and disputed territories…

If you read the comments coming from the readers of the big Western press articles. You will find that an attitude of kicking North Korea’s butt is prevalent and includes many times, the term nuclear weapons as the best way to show them who is boss…

One of my tiny minuscule talents in my cloistered past life was being involved with the now defunct Lance Missile program. I remember I decided to learn the ways of nuclear warfare in Ft. Sill, OK. because Uncle Sam asked me nicely and offered me a $4000 bonus to do it. Besides it also got you to play in Germany and the beer fests. All because of being part of the Cold War era fun. The problem with the Lance missile was that it was a suicide waiting to happen.  So if you knew what I know. You would not be spouting about nuking a country…

Coffee and Our Volga…


I am drinking a wonderful hot cup of coffee and trying to warm back up. Today started out early and Sveta and I were on our way to see her mother. We had 4 bags of goodies to drop off and it had been awhile since we had gone by to say hi. That trip never happened…

On Saturday I fired up the Volga and got her ready to take a day trip all around Moscow. A trip through Moscow is always 99% of the time a whole day affair. So I always make sure that the car is in order. On Saturday everything was running and working fantastic. That was Saturday…

Today is Sunday: I went out a fired up the Volga and let it warm up for about an hour. It was -13 degrees Celsius and the old girl needs a few more minutes to get loosened up. We took off and all seemed good. Sveta and I stopped at McDonald’s and got some breakfast sandwiches. After the breakfast is when I felt a change in the car. The car always starts the same way and method but today after breakfast, she turned over slowly, then the engine caught and purred…

That triggered the alert button in my head. We had already traveled far enough so the battery should have been fully charged after a real cold starting, but I realized that it was not. I saw that the alternator seemed to be weak at idle on voltage output and when I turned on the heater fan and headlights. The output dropped considerably. But revving the engine did not help the situation. We took off down the road and I gave Sveta the warning that we may be turning back home very quickly… (We ended up turning back and got the Volga home.)

I found that with the car idling and all extra accessories turned off the car would charge the battery, but weakly. But turn on lights and other necessary items and it dropped into a discharge mode. But what was even worse was that at highway speeds it discharged faster. So I knew we were on borrowed time as long as the battery held out. Since it is law to have headlights on and life would really suck with no heat going…

We went back home…

Then Sveta hopped a train and went to see her mom while I worked on the car. (Now working on a car at -11 degrees Celsius is no fun.) I ended up charging the battery and checking the voltage on the Alternator output and it showed my fears. It is acting like one or two of the 6 diodes is bad. Other words the alternator is going out…

I have replaced this alternator before but it is a month out of warranty. At that time the original alternator was still in the car and was just plain worn out. So I will be walking to the auto parts store and getting a new one. Then I have the fun of deciding which country to buy from. I can get one from Japan, Vietnam, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus or China. Cost varies from 2000 rubles to 6000 rubles. The one that I had last time was from Ukraine! So maybe I will try one from Russia… 🙂

I think that all this will have to wait at this point. It is too cold and I am chilled to the bones. I am going to drink this hot coffee and maybe have a couple of cups of hot tea also. Then I am going to bore you will the details of my day… 😉
