America Shows Her True Colors in Ukraine!

Well surprise, surprise – Lets watch a video and see what America is up to today with our tax money. The talk of reset by America with Russia just fell apart with this inexcusable renewal of stupidity.

America has reconfirmed the desire to continue the political meddling in the gas industry in Europe in attempt to disrupt the business. This was already well known in Russia but ignored in the Western world. It will be interesting to see if the EU can show any independence from the Washington bull and circle of influence. Is the new EU presidential team, a political puppet of the USA, or a free thinking independent body?

It seems that the US just has lots of extra money to throw around on more foreign bureaucrats and more pointless underhanded escapades.

Why does America care about the Russian/Ukrainian gas issues? (Nabucco alternative this has been the main objective of USA foreign policy since 1989)

Yuschenko has just received more billions of dollars in support from the best public relations US firm that money can buy.

Is this America’s part of Ukraine’s election campaign to stir up the issue of gas in Europe? (With out a doubt it is.)

Why would Yuschenko miss such a wonderful opportunity to create destruction? (He will not win the election so he might as well finish taking the country down the road to ruin and get as rich as he can from it…)

So as I watch the protests continue about UCLA raising tuition 32% and watch students being arrested – I also watch our government take billions in American tax dollars and pour them into foreign countries political games, instead of helping our kids get a reasonably priced education… Sad

Trip to Israel – Was a Blast! (photo set 1)

Hey Everyone,

We just got back from Israel and we had a great time. We got to spend some wonderful time with the best people that we could ever meet. We stayed with Chelita and Misha who have lived in Israel for many years now. They were born in Moldovia and decided the climate in Israel suited them better. So take a look at the pictures and I will try to put a little comment below or above each one…

Above – Arab village in the West Bank Area!
Above – Arab Village in the West Bank Area!
Above – Hot Tub and Sauna in our Hotel!
Above and Below – Sleeping commendations in Hotel!

Above – Chelita – The best cook in the world!
Above – While we traveled we saw landscape like this!

Above – Me – Checking out a dead coral reef!
Above and Below – The Grotto’s at the Lebanon border!
Below – Someone trying to sun bath??
Below – Fishing the Mediterranean!

Above – I do not know but he was not shy and kinda cute!

We covered all of Israel this time and even stopped at the dead sea. The pictures of the hotel is when we stayed and bobbed around in the dead sea for two days. We spent considerable time in the West Bank area studying the settlement issue that is causing heat on Israel… (Talk about that later on next week)

We met lots of new people and gained lots of phone numbers from new friends. We found the people of Israel were ever we went to be helpful and friendly.

We even buried the rental car in the sand at the beach and lots of people helped us get her out.

Part two of pictures tomorrow.

Tourist Icebreaker’s From Russia!

If you follow “Windows to Russia” you know then that I like to follow vessels that sail the oceans of the world and especially ones that have a Russian background. These vessel’s that we will talk about today are as Russian as it gets: Video – “The retired Russian ice-breaker Sampo based in Finland is the only vessel of its kind in the world to offer tourist trips. The ship’s captain says it takes about 10,000 tourists each season around the Bay of Bothnia who like to see it smash its way through ice up to a meter thick at this time of year.

So when I found this great video I had to post it. 🙂 But then I started to check on that statement about being the only vessel of its kind…

Not so, it is not the only tourist ice breaker –

MOSCOW, November 17 (RIA Novosti) – A group of mostly British tourists on board a Russian icebreaker in the Antarctic are getting more of a trip than they bargained for as the ship has become stuck in the ice.

The Kapitan Khlebnikov is inching its way towards open water – about 5 nautical miles (9 kilometers) away – covering approximately 1.5 nautical miles in the past 24 hours.

The ship is waiting for a favorable wind to help loosen the ice, but the 105 passengers, including tourists, scientists and a BBC television crew, will end their tour a day or two later than planned.

So it looks as though there is more than one old ice breaker from Russia that is cruising the icy waters of the North. The Kapitan Khlebnikov has after a three day extra wait finally got the winds it needed to break free and has now returned to cruising.

VLADIVOSTOK, November 20 (RIA Novosti) – A Russian icebreaker that had become stuck in the Antarctic ice has finally managed to leave the heavy ice zone, a spokesman for Russia’s Far Eastern shipping company said on Friday.

The Kapitan Khlebnikov, with over 100 tourists, scientists and a BBC television crew on board, has been inching its way towards open water – about 5 nautical miles (9 kilometers) away – covering approximately 1.5 nautical miles since Sunday.

All is well that ends well!

I am going to keep looking around and see how many other old ice breakers are doing cruise work…

Russia’s Nikolay Valuev vs. Britain’s David Haye – Update!

I did an article on these guys before we left for Israel and I never got to find out who won. I found this video of the last round and after watching this video and other videos on the fight…

I would have to say – Haye ran away the whole time and Valuev chased him all over the ring. (The Judges say Haye won?)

Swine Flu Politics in Ukraine?

I had a controversial article that upset a few people not long ago. I was not exactly showing love for a Ukraine government that seemed to be playing games with the Ukraine people for political malice… (WHO update report below)

Pandemic (H1N1) 2009, Ukraine – update 2

17 November 2009 — Preliminary tests reveal no significant changes in the pandemic (H1N1) 2009 virus based on investigations of samples taken from patients in Ukraine. Analysis are being performed by two WHO influenza collaborating centers as part of the global influenza surveillance network.

Preliminary genetic sequencing shows that the virus is similar to the virus used for production of the pandemic influenza vaccine, reconfirming the vaccine’s efficiency at this time.

Additional questions about the pandemic virus circulating in Ukraine will be answered as more data is available.

WHO commends the government of Ukraine for its open sharing of samples to inform global monitoring of the virus for signs of change.

A total of 34 samples were analyzed independently by the WHO Collaborating Center for Reference and Research on Influenza, Mill Hill in London, UK, and the WHO Collaborating Center for the Surveillance, Epidemiology and Control of Influenza in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

Based upon the initial findings from the WHO, it does not appear that anything medically unusual is happening in the Ukraine other than an outbreak of pandemic H1N1.

Of course there is reports of serious blackened lungs in autopsies. That sounds like we now need to be looking at a serious tuberculosis outbreak in Ukraine.

Tymoshenko has constantly blamed her political rivals for hindering her efforts to stop the flu! While the Ukraine president blames Tymoshenko for not doing anything about the situation.

“There is a saying in Ukraine: The active idiot is better than the lazy philosopher. And it now looks like people will vote for Tymoshenko simply because she is taking action on this flu issue, which has completely dominated public discussion,” said political analyst Volodymyr Tsybulko. “No one much cares that Tymoshenko was the one who created the issue she is acting upon.”

It is rather obvious now that the panic surrounding the swine-flu, the ‘mysterious’ pneumonia, and other deaths caused by a ‘mysterious’ flu in Ukraine is nothing more than simple pre-election propaganda.

Looks like the political presidential battle in Ukraine has taken on a new level of disgusting habits…

Svet and I had a long flight home from Israel and we just woke up from a 12 hour sleep. We were worn out…

So as I get everything caught back upon and get all pictures on the computer, I will then start posting again. Probably by tonight…

It was sure nice getting back to “home sweet home” Russia!

Windows to Russia – Going to Israel!

Svet and I got “Places to go, People to See, Things to Do” in Israel. So from the 2nd of November 2009 to 18th of November 2009. Svet and I will be gone. We will still try to post a little bit and try to check on comments…

Boza has been left with a good friend who he really likes and will most likely not want to come home when we get back. 🙂 We also are going to leave frozen, snowy and very icy Moscow, Russia! You take off in subzero freezer and land in a smelt furnace. (That is how it feels when you are use to Northern temperatures…)

We will take lots of pictures and that way we can show you all what we did.

(Goof Off – that is what!)

So see you all when we come back…

Ukraine Has First H1N1 Swine Flu Death and they Shut the Country Down!

Ukraine Shuts Schools, Bans Public Events Over Flu:

KYIV (Reuters) — Ukraine has closed schools, banned all public events, and imposed restrictions on people’s movements around the country for a three-week period after confirming its first death from H1N1 swine flu.

“All educational institutions without exception…will be switched on to a three-week holiday period,” Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko announced. She indicated this period could be extended if it was deemed necessary.

“Apart from this, we will make the decision to cancel all mass meetings…for three weeks,” she said at an emergency government session.

“We will introduce a special system to stop unnecessary travel by people from one region to another,” she added.

Earlier, the Health Ministry confirmed that one of 30 deaths in Western Ukraine since mid-October that had been attributed to flu and pneumonia had been caused by the H1N1 strain, commonly known as swine flu.

“So far, not all the dead were tested [for H1N1],” a Health Ministry spokeswoman said. “However, tests on one dead [person] proved positive.”

“We are considering [imposing] a quarantine not only in the west, but also across the country because the virus is spreading very fast,” Health Minister Vasyl Knyazevych told a news conference, without giving details.

Glad I got in Ukraine and back out when I did a week ago. I may have been stuck for a while…

Think maybe this has to do more with control of people at election time than the flu?

Update: Seems that I hear that 11 have died from confirmed swine flu cases. That is eleven of the 30 or so reported deaths. Not eleven new deaths…

Russia’s Nikolay Valuev vs. Britain’s David Haye on November 7

I have ignored this long enough. I have waited to see if for some reason it gets called off like so many Heavyweight fights seem to have happen. As of right now it looks like this fight will happen.

Going to be held in Bern, Switzerland on November 7th, 2009 Russia’s Nikolay Valuev vs. Britain’s David Haye in a sanctioned Heavyweight match.

David Haye (22-1, 22 KOs) vs Valuev (50-1, 34 KOs)

My money is going to the Russian Giant – He has trained very hard and I really think he is ready for this fight…
